QQC 1

"This is the sophistic doctrine of kairos, that is, the idea that the elements of a situation, its cultural and political contexts rather than transcendent unchanging laws will produce the best solutions to problems, and the best verbal means of presenting them persuasively" p.24

I agree that in order to curate a persuasive argument one must assume the responsibility of  becoming aware of the political and cultural implications surrounding the issue. This is truly obvious, however I believe that there are transcending "laws" which shape the ways in which we should judge what is virtuous. What is your personal take on the doctrine of kairos?

  1. I agree with the point that you made about taking on responsibility. I believe if you are trying to persuade a person or group of people to do something or change their mind on an issue, you should be prepared to accept whatever actions come with it. whether you predicted it or not.
